AMERICAN GIGOLO's Car Rental

AMERICAN GIGOLO's Car Rental

When AMERICAN GIGOLO (1980) filmed at locations in Westwood, this building held a rental car agency. When Richard Gere's character rips apart his luxury automobile to search for planted evidence of murder, he winds up renting a Pinto from this place. The car rental building recently held a Hollywood Video franchise store. As you can see, the company has vacated the building inside and out. In GUIDE FOR THE MARRIED MAN (1966) adulteror-in-training Walter Matthau rents a car from this location. Similar to AMERICAN GIGOLO, the GFTMM sequence follows the car and the star as he drives out of the car rental building and takes that nasty right turn onto westbound Wilshire Boulevard.

Cool news! Car rentals are still pretty lucrative, though, and I hope they continue on that. The venture is tricky, but the demand for these are great. People would probably want to ride those 'American Gigolo' cars instead of just watching them go. That's a franchise-in-a-making there.
